Suppperrrrrrrrrr Skydive

So before I knew it my skydive day had arrived. I went to bed on a massive high looking forward to the next day’s antics!  Waking up to frantic phone calls and text messages saying the jump was off was heartbreaking. I knew I only had this one weekend free for months and was not about to let some wind and clouds ruin my day! So I dug out my positive mental attitude and waited for the call to say it was back on...............4 hours later “There’s a slim chance that you might be able to jump.”
So up we jumped and off to the skydive centre we went. To be honest meeting up with the other guys who had been waiting around since 9:00am and seeing the disappointment on their face didn’t do much for the old “fingers crossed” attitude but I wasn’t about to give up just yet! (I had only been there 5 mins) So when the news came in that the jump was probably not going to happen until at least 4pm (if even at all) the other guys decided to give it up for the day. Leaving just 3 of us behind. Eventually the wind started to calm down and we began to get ready to jump. Clambering onto the plane was the point of no return and I was BUZZING!! Watching the professionals jump first was amazing as they one by one start to drop out the plane and before i knew it was my turn!!! I had been told that sitting on the edge of the plane would be the scariest part but for me I couldn’t wait to go, 3.... 2.... 1... WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Thee most amazing feeling in the world as it suddenly dawns on you that you are plummeting towards the earth at 120 mph. So what do you do while freefalling? You cut some shapes for the camera of course! I pulled off some classics i.e the ye olde faithful superman pose, The breaststroke and the flapping of wings.

I must say that the skydive was the most amazing thing I have ever done to date and to make it better I raised over £300 for the RAG charities which are the Pepper foundation and Learn as One. The 7 hour wait was well worth it. I would recommend anybody to not only skydive but do their bit for charity as the rewards are more than you could ever imagine.

All you need is a little PMA  and a MASSIVE parachute.

I'm Freeeeeeeeeeee...Freeeefalling!

The 28th May is fast approaching and what seemed like a good idea two months ago doesnt seem like such a great idea now. 16 of us have decided to fall out of a plane. I say fall because its unlikely that I will do this gracefully, however I shouldnt tar everyone with the same brush; the others may manage a graceful dive from the plane.

Im beginning to get a little scared, mainly because I don't particularly like heights and it doesn't seem a natural thing to do; throw yourself from 12,000ft into the open sky. That said; I've been told only good things from people I know who have done it before and most importantly its all for a good cause. The skydivers are raising money for a variety of charities; Pepper Hospice, Learn As One, The Fragile X Society, Cancer Research, The Elisa Educational Trust, Chiltern MS Centre, Help for Heroes and The Stroke Association. Jo's Volunteering at The Salvation Army

I am currently volunteering at The Salvation Army in Hillingdon where I have been helping out with the running of three different childrens clubs which take place every Friday night. Two of the clubs are for children aged 4-12 year olds and the third club is for anyone who is in year 7+.
During these clubs there are a number of activities which the children can get involved in some of theses include football and arts and crafts
I really enjoy being able to take part in these clubs and it looks great on my cv.
